KATHY P. THOMPSON AND CINDY ARSAGA DEBUT NEW WORK AT THE DEPOT, 548 WEST DICKSON, FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
Starting September 30, 2026 and running through November 2, 2013. Opening reception October 3, 2026 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm in conjunction with First Thursdays.
The Depot will present two new bodies of work by well-known Arkansas artists Kathy P. Thompson and Cindy Arsaga. Thompson and Arsaga share studio space in Studio 3, on the square in downtown Fayetteville, and are mainstays of the Fayetteville art community.
Continuum, Thompson’s most recent work, represents her ideas about exploration of her future and remembrance of her past. She expresses her feelings about the next stages of her life, and, in a larger context, the next stages of life in the world and the universe. The work is not negative – here, color and form come together to express an optimistic and exciting view of life to come.
Thompson has said that the pieces in this show are prototypes-playful and experimental, and pointing the way to upcoming work on a larger scale.
Arsaga’s work is titled Reclaimed…Old to New and Back Again.
This body of work is based on photographs taken in and around Northwest Arkansas. Arsaga applies encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin) heated and painted onto the surface of an image, then manipulates the medium and finishes with oil sticks. She has said about her pieces: “ I am drawn to old, abandoned houses and buildings, and forgotten landscapes, which feel as if they are still full of voices and memories. By focusing on their lost beauty, I feed my desire to reclaim them, giving them new life”.
Both Thompson and Arsaga have exhibited widely and won numerous awards for their work. Both will be present at the opening reception, at The Depot, on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. Food, beverages, and music will be provided by The Depot.
